COFIA 1282 MEDIEVAL HERITAGE TRAIL marked out 12 - 12 - 2009

.
Historical Record testifies that Llywelyn III with his Army came into Central Cymru and made camp on Rhosferig on the 10th December, an hill with commanding view in all directions and of course defencible. Late the following day 11th December, after possibly displaying Y Croes Naid to his soldiers, records states he went to Llanganten, possibly to pray in the Church there, although some consider he did this at Llanynys just further on. Whatever, he returns to Pont Irfon (near to present day Golf Course, see fotos below) and with his Teulu - Personal Royal Body Guard crosses the Irfon and makes his way to Aberedw. Here according to historian Anthony Edwards, they are ambushed and the body guard killed whilst Llywelyn III is mortally wounded. His body his placed in a near by Cave, today named as Ogof Llywelyn, there he is given last rites prior to being murdered by beheading on command of Edward I King of England. Possibly it is here that his personal priest having given him his last rites, secretly took possession of the Y Croes Naid to eventually return with it to Gwynedd. The following day 12th December, Byddin Llywelyn are told of their leaders death and induced to come off Rhosferig and surrender in area of present day Parc yr Irfon on which today there is Builth Wells Golf Course, There they are surrounded and masscred, possibly by Welsh Archers serving with the Anglo - Norman Army, a few escape the massacre and return to Gwynedd.
.

.
Above are Cards I made to mark locations of these events for future reference regards establishing a Brenhinol Cymru - Cofia 1282 - Medieval Heritage Trail. I managed to place such at Rhosferig and close to Parc yr Irfon, near Golf Club House and with Pont Irfon in view but unfortunatly did not make it to Aberedw and Ogof Llywelyn. That will have to be now left to another day but I will return to complete this project and post up further details for your information.
.
Below fotos are of card placed in area of Rhosferig.
.

.
Below I marked out location near to where the aforementioned massacre took place, commonly referred to as the Battle of Irfon Bridge. You will note there is an ideal location here, opposite Golf Course Club  House for a Massacre Memorial. C'mon Builth Wells how's about it, a worthy project re Cadw E.U. Five Year Heritage Tourism Initiative, see their web site for further detailed information.

COFIA 1282 REMEMBERANCE TRAIL Central Cymru. A Brenhinol Cymru Medieval Initiative.

.
If the annual Cilmeri Commemoration is not your scene, then you have an alternative day out following in the footsteps of the Anthony Edwards view on the sad events that took place over 10, 11 & 12 Ragfyr 1282. Proceed to Rhosferig where Byddin Llywelyn pitched camp on the 10th, on to Irfon foot Bridge via Golf Course location of where the Welsh Army was massacre on the 12th, on to Builth to visit the Castle and a tea break. Then on to Aberedw location where Llywelyn III  was ambushed and mortally wounded on the 11th, visit the Castle and Church, only proceed to Ogof Llywelyn if enough light left in the day to get there and back before darkness sets in. Check out with some one local re state of the path to the cave, maybe at the Seven Stars Tafarn, myself at this point would book in for the night at 7S's and, have a good evening Cofia 1282 Rememberance Meal.
.
In the morning after a good hearty breakfast proceed to Ogof Llywelyn, it was here that Llywelyn III was mudered by beheading on command of Edward I King of England. Followed by an afternoon outing to Abaty Cwm Hir where the body of Llywelyn III was bueried under the high alter, here it would be appropriate to place wreaths by the memorial set up there by Cofiwn. Note there is a tafarn in ACH too where a Sunday dinner or evening meal may be had before you begin your journey home after an interesting pre xmas week end break. Try it ! I have and it is a break from the usual Cilmeri Commemoration day especially, if like me one is now beyond middle age, or 60 plus like me  sad to say. I shall be doing much of this outing this weekend so our paths may cross, so wear an Ivy with Red&Yellow Ribbon so that we may recognise fellow Welsh Medieval History enthusiasts.
.

.
Such a field trip outing is idea for couples, families, friends and community groups and, please do place Ivy or floral rememberance tributes in the church or in the cave.
.

.
Do wear clothing to keep you warm, good foot wear is a must too and, last but not least take sarnies and a flask of hot soup plus a torch and compass just in case. For further information I have posted to my blogs an abbreviated account of the Anthony Edwards true story of the Ambush and Assassination of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd 'Tywysog Cymru'. Try a google search of his name or Aberedw.

WELSH MEDIEVAL HERO: TOMAS AP CWPWR of CAERFFILI Born in Caerffili and then buzzed off without looking back or, maybe not?

.

.

.
I liked Tommy Cooper but I don't like the fact that he gets a statue in Caerffil before the Castle when surely more deserving of such position would be none other than a real local hero, none other than Llywelyn Bren Lord of Senghenydd and leader of the Southern Rebellion of 1315 - 16. So how come Tommy Cooper gets a statue and in such a prime spot? yes indeed ! How does this come about, such recognition for Tommy Cooper but not for Llywelyn Bren, after all Tommy Coopers Welsh connection is only via his Dad and the Caerffili connection by virtue of fact that he was born there but at age 3 moved with family to the English West Country with which for the rest of his life he had more familier association, including his Dorset accent.
.
As for Llywelyn Bren, well if you know nothing of this great Southern patriot then you had better catch up on some reading, start with a Google search and you may come across much I have posted up on blogs in this connection. So back to how come Tommy Cooper and not Llywelyn Bren? well it seems that local Caerffili Tommy Cooper fans were more about and pro - active than Welsh Patriots in Caerffili. All rather odd and sad when one considers that Plaid Cymru - Nationalists have been quite numerous in this locality and have had good position on the council for a number of years, so why no Llywelyn Bren statue? indeed is there any recognition of this local hero at all in those parts or is Caerffili just too cheeesy? Whatever, time Caerffili Patriots got going with a Morgnnwg Medieval Initiative of their own, perhaps setting up a Cymdeithas Llywelyn Bren would be a great idea for a start, after all you have a Tommy Cooper Society in the area, is it not time Caerfilli Patriots recognised Llywelyn Bren?.

LLYWELYN III and the 1282 WAR OF INDEPENDENCE ILLUSTRATED INFORMATION SHEETS:

..
Yes very crude stuff but before day of PC, so what do you expect on a shoe string Cofiwn budget. Whatever it served the purpose at time of the 1982 - 1282, 700th Anniversary Commemoration. Hopefully with all this new Welsh Heritage Strategy and Cadw EU - Heritage Tourism Funding Programme we will see more and better material illustrating Welsh Medieval History being published as Posters, Wall charts and Books plus CD's and DVD's. In this connection note that Sian Ifan formerly of Cofiwn next year will start to edit up Cofiwn films of Rali Cilmeri over the years and the big one of 1982 onto a DVD to be available to Patriots and the general public. Her work will also lead on to documentary film work - the true 1282 story - on which she has already began work. Release dates I understand are to be in 2010 to coincide with release of film 1066 and 2011 to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the 1911 Investiture of an Englishman as Prince of Wales in Caernarfon.

P2: BRENHINOEDD CYMRU/Kings of Wales: A WELSH REGNAL LIST INTRODUCED and EXPLAINED.

.
Anyone who studies Welsh Medieval History, not least newcomers to this history and I am thinking of children in particular will start to hit the buffers of confusion when one starts reading up on the many Welsh Kings, Princes and Lords of the various Dynasties and Gwledydd (Independant Principalities). If it were not for all the 'ap' particularly when one gets such as Rhys ap Gruffydd ap Rhys ap Gruffydd, get my drift. , such study would be easier.  It would also make study of our medieval history if there was one commonly acceptable Regnal List of what may be detirmined as 'High Kings' with one of the four or five Royal Dynastic Courts  of our chief Gwledydd being recognised as the high court much as Tara is in Ireland. To have such a Regnal List would of course make remembering Welsh Medieval History much better and providing easier memory access to people, places and events, this of course has made the teaching of English Medieval and later history so presentable as also a device to make of England 'one nation'. Of course having a national coinage and education system that recognises such is a big step in the right direction also.
.
All this had been at back of my mind for a number of years when in 1982 whilst working for Cofiwn on Blwyddyn Goffa Llywelyn ap Gruffydd - Cofia 1282, 700th Anniversary commemoration, I receieved a verey illuminating letter from a Mr Dafydd P. Ifans of Llandeilo who took me to task for referring to the said Llywelyn as the 'Second' commonly known in our history as  Llywelyn yr Ail. I was of course very aware of the 'Ich Dien' version of Welsh History that constantly referred to this Llywelyn as our 'Last' Prince, when of course he was not. Thus the Welsh were constantly encouraged the  to think 'Brit' and follow what suited the Tudor Propagandists and forget about Owain Glyndwr and his son Maredudd II and if we wished a later candidate for the 'last' Princely status, Rhys III maybe our man or perhaps our 'Pretender?', executed at Tower of London in 1529.
.
However, Mr Ifans enlightened me to a number of matters we needed to take into consideration regards the way we ourselves looked at medieval history and, not least that of the Kings of Wales - 'BRENHINOEDD CYMRU'. Mr Ifans informed particularly on much we ignored at our peril regards all the better understanding, appreciating and advancing knowledge of our own history , not least for starters that Llywelyn ap Gruffydd be regarded as the 'third' and not second. Thus for many years now I have referred to Llywelyn ap Gruffydd as Llywelyn III, much to the annoyance of some pobl Gwynedd. Hopefully they too and many others will 'come aboard' and accept what Mr Ifans has to say also one and all agree to recognise the excellent Regnal List of Welsh 'High Kings' he supplied me with.
.
Before I publish at a future date this Regnal List, I feel I owe Mr Ifans an apology for puting his work away and do nothing about it untill now when really it should have had the priority it deserves. Further, before I get to post up the list, I am going to type up two letters I receieved from Mr Ifans as they explain a great deal so allowing us to more fully understand and appreciate his work and proposals. The previous post on this subject regard as Part 1, this post as P2 the letters thus will be on a post designated P3 &  P4 and then the actual Regnal list on post designated P5. Followed up by a Post P6 for any outstanding unfinnished related material. To conclude this post suffice to say the above may take me all of November to complete, it will also more or less 'sign me off' re my Welsh Medieval work and thus much further work on this blog will be very limited and so note my appeals and suggestions below:
.
* The Regnal List I shall eventually post up could be basis of further work to complete as an illustrated Wall Chart and as a Time Line Wall Chart. Further, why not a Bio - Pic booklet as type illustated in the previous post.
.
* Regards anything to do with this Regnal List or other ideas and stuff in this blog, re organisation of projects and commemorations etc. If anyone seriously wants to take over some of this work, they are welcome to my research papers be they individuals, students or publishers. There is much the serious Welsh Medieval enthusiast could be getting under way in the best tradition of Cofiwn over the years, then done voluntary but now Wales is awash with funding for such projects, so go grab fast before those less really interested in the patriotism do.
.
* Of course what we really need is a Cymdeithas Brenhinoedd Cymru to get stuck into much of all this, and whatever comes out of it, not least regards the new Welsh Heritage Strategy and Cadw's Five Year plan regards the native Welsh Princes. Plus of course I am pushing for a major 'Antur Teuluoedd Tywysog Cymru' with an all Wales Gwyl Fawr Brenhinoedd Cymru being held in 2011 in and around areas of Aberffraw, Mathrafel, Dinefwr and Dinas Powys, or where ever to represent Gwledydd Morgannwg and Gwent. Now if you want to make this happen you will have to get cracking working things out and making an Initiative presentable to seek grants from a verity of sources, as Cadw and National Lottery for starters.
.
* Note there is already up on web a very good Princes of Gwynedd web site http://www.princesofgwynedd.com/  which I urge you to go and check out and follow the exampe of for the Princes of Powys, Deheubarth also Glywysing (Morgannwg and Gwent). Do remember priority here is to campaign for Cadw to make Princes of Powys and Glywysing an Initiative equal to Gwynedd and Deheubarth. So yes move it!
.
Last but not least, I cannot stress enough the golden opportunities to move medieval Welsh history forward in a number of areas, not just Tourism but regards many other projects as memorials and commemorations/festivals plus note I am working well ahead on a grand 'Pageant of Princes' based on the Regnal List I referr to. This Pageant has  been very much on my mind for a number of years but I have really been prompted to fast track it after seeing the perfectly terrible, historically that is Pageant in Cardiff Castle this year. Supposedly, a commemoration of the 1909 National Pageant this 2009 School childrens version (they aside) was a awful pathetic treatment of our Medieval History that needs to be corrected. To make this possible I will need a lot of talented and skilled support in areas of theatre, reenactment and pageant presentation, if your up for that do get in touch asap.

P1: BRENHINOEDD CYMRU: A Welsh Native Royal Dynasties Regnal List, that's what is needed and it's on the way.

.
On the one hand I am lucky that someone donated such Regnal List for my attention and acceptance as an excellent device for the  interpretation and better understanding of Welsh Royal Dynasties whom are central to an educative appreciation of our Medieval History. On the other hand I have to type this up with associated introduction and attending useful notes, and it's just that which is proving a bit of a mental block at the moment. However, the file has moved from back shelf to my blogging work 'In Tray' and so hopefully the job will get done by end of the year.
.
I can asure you that it will be worth waiting for, but then the real work begins as I consider it to be of great need to produce a booklet on such similar to the below, then a book of Bio Pics of all our Native Welsh Princes plus an illustrated wall chart too. All this is very much in area of educational aids and possibly of commercial Heritage & Tourism interests, thus a job for Cadw but I doubt if they would bother. Thus I suspect it will need a team of dedicated patriots to work on this, possibly being sponsored by my proposed Brenhinol Cymru initiative or maybe one of our Welsh Publishers could take this aboard as a worth while publishing project?
.
As you will see from the below, England is well served by such educative and populist material, and the below is but one example. Whatever, anyone out there interested in this project do get in touch and it can be discussed further, I do not think I will have the time to conclude my efforts here, but I have much material to pass on to those who might become committed to such a worth while enterprise. Do keep in mind this is surely worthy of grant funding within terms of Cadw's Heritage Tourism Five Year Plan, myself I am not interested even if I were to be awarded a finnancial grant. I am quite happy if others wish to seek grants to complete this important piece of work, so maybe the money will motivate and that is quite alright with me as long as the job gets done by 2011 in readiness for a Gwyl Fawr Tywysogion Cymru (that is native princes), more on this proposal - a  potential all Wales festival, further details in due course

MORGANNWG MEDIEVAL INITIATIVE, Glamorgan and Gwent had Medieval Kings, Princes, Lords and Chiefs as well as Gwynedd and Dehuebarth.

.
You will have heard of being 'Anglo centric' but perhaps a case can be made out for there being such a thing as being too 'Gwynedd centric' in our accepted Patriotic view of Welsh History. As it seems that Southern patriots deem their own native royalty and medieval history, not as worthy as that of Gwynedd in particular. Why else would ''Hwntws'' annually rally at Cilmeri in remembrance of Llywelyn III but be so forgetful when in comes to their own medieval heroes as Llywelyn Bren and his revolt against Anglo - Norman rule in 1315 - 16?
.
.
Well it's time for such ''Hwntws'' and other Southerners, particularly those who believe that their own Southern History does not begin before the Industrial Revolution (see the work of Herian via web search) to wake up to fact that Cadw has on line a five year Heritage Tourism plan 2009 - 2014 with millions of E.U. money to hand out for medieval matters. But their plan is based on four Initiatives; two representative of pura Walliae regards the Princes of Gwynedd and the Princes of Dehuebarth, then another two are representative of marcher Walliae (the South and North East with central Wales) and it's Anglo - Marcher Norman and later English Lords as being of more importance than native leaders pre and post 1081 to 1282.
.
I am not surprised that Native pre and post -conquest Glywysing (Morgannwg & Gwent) and the North East are given short shrift but Powys? rather odd that this most important Gwledydd is thrown aside and seems to count for little. However, my concern at moment is neither Powys or the North East as I know of Patriots in these regions whom will be concerned and do something of useful value, re Medieval Initiatives and projects in their regions. However, I am not so sure about the South or why else is there a statue of Tommy Cooper in Caerffili and not one of Llywelyn Bren? So at moment I am only concerned with fighting out of a Southern Corner, and then simply to motivate and prompt, do not expect me to do very much.
.
At moment I have far too much on my plate to do much in a pro-active way regards a MORGANNWG MEDIEVAL INITIATIVE, other than appeal that others of the South get on with it! I will from time to time publish information in this post that may be useful but in the first instance I suggest someone calls a meeting in Caerffili to hold preliminary discussion regards establishing of a M.M.I. why not this Saturday the 24th October as an alternative to Cadw's birthday bash in the Castle, or when ever? but please do so. Not least so you may be first in the Que to grab some grants to put to good use, now do not take too long thinking about this ok! Personally, I think it really is time that a Cymdeithas Llywelyn Bren was set up, never mind about that ''Gog'' Llywelyn III and Cilmeri, lets get a bit 'Southern centric' in showing some interest in the Medieval of Morgannwg (and Gwent) for a change, yes!.
.
Keep me informed of any developments and I will post up your news on this blog, plus do take a good look at what's going on over at Cadw and their Plans for supposedly a more patriotic view and presentation of Medieval Wales from the native point of view. Their plans are looking pretty good, and I will find it very hard to criticise they, if patriots in particular do not get off their backsides and do something. Not least as in this blog and my I'R GAD Welsh Battlefield Campaign blog and Cofiwn Archive blog there is much useful stuff out of which Initiatives and projects might arise.
.
So, do not hang about, just get to it!

CARNEDD GWENLLIAN ferch Llywelyn III, not I may add 'The Last Prince of Wales'.

.
.
Excellent job of work by Cymdeithas Gwenllian, they deserve to be much applauded for this initiative. This also provides not only good idea but points way forward for Patriots to seek out Mountain peaks in their area, yet unnamed or it seems named already as was Carnedd Uchaf now named Carnedd Gwenllian. So start searching and make yourselves a project to follow the above excellent example as above and name such after your local Welsh hero, or figure in history.
.
The cutting above is taken from the Western Mail, a feature pretty good in coverage but wrong Gwenllian illustrated, this is from a souvenir book and illustrates Princess Gwenllian the Warrior Princess , see this link: Gwenllian ferch Gruffydd - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Gwenllian ferch Gruffydd (Gwenllian, daughter of Gruffydd) (b.c. 1097, died 1136) was Princess-consort of Deheubarth in Wales, ...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gwenllian_ferch_Gruffydd - Cached - Similar - Which leads me to think and consider, just why has there not been a society established to honour and inform on this heroic fighting female?
.
Maybe one could be formed asap with in mind the developing Cadw plans regards the Princes of Dehuebarth and Princes of Gwynedd Initiative. This is tied in with the recently launched WAG/MofH new Welsh Heritage Strategy, go see on web for further and full details, and note plenty of grants available to finance projects. In relation to this suggestion note my previous posts re 'BRENHINOL CYMRU' and also go see my blog: I'r Gad Welsh Battlefield Campaign regards fourth coming anniversary of the Battle of Grug Mawr which of course is associated with the Princess Gwenllian 1136 Story. Maybe good occasion for patriots of Cydweli area to run a field trip outing to Aberteifi to view possible Battlefield area and discuss setting up of a Cymdeithas Gwenllian 1136. Then get down to considering projects that may be associated to the whole story of this Princess Gwenllian - the Warrior Princess, in relation to the coming on line of many grants obtainable from numerous sources.
.
But act quick as the stampede for grants re Cadw's new Initiatives began two years back and already 50 Projects have been put up for grant funding. However, do not panic the Cadw plans run up to 2014 but do not sleep on it, as you can bet your last dollar that fast first in Que for dosh will be people, not least plant crachach and the arts types who have had little interest in promotion of our history previous. Not least I would wonder if they have ever been to any Patriotic commemoration, so don't let such get fat on your sweat over the many years passed! GO FOR IT NOW!

3: 2011 BRENHINOL CYMRU 1000 INITIATIVE IN DEVELOPMENT, some basic ideas to continue with for now.

..
First off, hows about painting up some Heraldic Banners, opposite left is my latest creation, the Red Stag of Gruffydd Gethin of Ynys Tawe, that was an easy one. Others below might look difficult but patience and time and you will get the job done, just look what Toni Lewis created (see pics below), and not shown are all the wooden shields he made and painted as well. Plus Baneri Cofiwn etc, we could do with some more of them again too, if your up to it. I would suggest you do a design, as flag, shield and/or Tabard Representative of the Heraldic device of the Prince, Lord or Chief that was of your region, for details on such, search the web. If stuck, I can photocopy something for you of use, at cost plus P&P, no problem! Too late to get much ready for Dydd Glyndwr, but who amongst you can deliver for Dydd Llywelyn events at Cilmeri, Aberedw, Caernarfon and Llys Rhosyr in Rhagfyr 2009.

1: BRENHINOL CYMRU Promoting an Interest in History of the native Royal Dynasties, Cunedda to Owain Glyndwr - Owain IV - Last Native Prince of Wales.

.
Three reasons have motivated me to move this initiative forward, they are as follows, see below. But first let me tell you this much, for past five years our Welsh Heritage, mainly ''Built Heritage'' Industry Establishment that revolves around Cadw, RCAHMW, Civic & National Trusts et al, inc Museum Services and Archaelogical Interests have been holding numerous meetings, workshops and conferences under auspicies of an Heritage Environment Group and series of Conferences under umbrella, and on platform of Treftadaeth'08 & '09 conferences. The fruit of their labours will be announced very soon (later this month ok) by the WAG Minister of Heritage Alun Ffred Jones, in a Statement and Action Plan on a New Welsh Heritage Strategy.
.
Now pay attention dear patriots, much of this will be very positive and seemingly patriotic but this Heritage Industry Establishment have not been exactly transparent or inclusive in development of all this. It will all very much look as if it's all kind of just lifting off but in fact much has already been farmed out via Cadw & ACW in preparation for the 'Cultural Olympiad. At same time Cadw has been moving forward fast tracking a five year plan, this again looks very positive and patriotic, and thus far various groups have put forward up to 50 projects.
.
What these projects are I have yet to find out, but one things for sure with lots of money in grants being sloshed about, I detect already as first on the scene by 'nature of the beast', are those involved in the arts and the artistic, as well as cultural activities in general. I suspect a ''feeding fenzy'' over grants is going on at this very moment. Excuse me if i am a bit cynical, it's only because I have began to smell some involved, who up to now have shown no interest in Welsh History let alone promote, organise or attend any Patriotic Commemoration. However, lets put all that cynicism aside and welcome these new converts aboard, and I have no doubt that most involved will be ultra - truistic in their endeavours, in time we will see that's for sure.
.
I mention all this just to alert you to such facts and a possibilty that soon the cupboard will be bare of any money, and we may just see this New Welsh Heritage Strategy become a real mish mash of moderacy, you know 'tame taffy'' stuff. Thus I urge you give it the big heave, get excited and go for it regards Brenhinol Cymru and 2011 Brenhinol Cymru 1000 and related projects, or go over to I'r Gad WBC blog, and look for something worth while to do, and yes go GRAB GRANTS (did I say that? Choke!), why not everyone else is! Also if really up for this, make contact and attend possible December 2009 meeting, lets crack it and fast track forward ourselves. There's a lot at stake, so do it!
.
1: I am working towards my retirement from Patriotic pro - activness and closing down on Welsh Remembrance work as well. To such end I am archiving away much work and seeking to pass on o/s work not embarked upon or not completed. To such end, I have to prioritise if I am to get to my retirement deadline year 2014. Thus when push comes to shove, it's going to be a pile of my medieval studies, research and labours plus frustrated projects that, I am afraid are going to get short drift. In the main because there is so much of it, although I am committing myself to completion of projects, as The Cofiwn and Rali Cilmeri Stories, to be published as scrapbooks and DVD's of Film footage, much will be put to bed in Library archives, dumped or re packaged and handed on. Reasons 2 & 3 below moves me to package much in a one major BRENHINOL CYMRU Initiative Package working much towards good purpose of a special 2011 celebration of 1000 years of Welsh Native Dynasties and commemoration of their contribution to our nations history.
.
2: I am aware, and you should be that the WAG - MofH Alun Ffred Jones is keen to see much more pro-actively done regards Welsh Medieval History, and Cadw & Co are being moved towards initiatives based on Princes of Gwynedd and Deheubarth but not of Powys and Glywysing. Why? possibly because Powys is connected to Owain Glyndwr, and probably they do not want too much of he? Whilst in the South, they probably do not want to step on HERIAN's toes, nor let on to the 'Hwntws' that they have an history before the 19th Century Industrial Revolution. This of course is stupidity in itself, and thus is a very good reason why to set up BRENHINOL CYMRU to compliment work of HERIAN but of course focusing on Medieval history which will include the Native Royal Dynasties of Wales.
.
3: At present there is being organised in the South a two year Chartist Commemoration 2009 - 2010, and next year we shall see commemoration of the 1910 Tonypandy Riots and year after the 1911 Llanelli Riots. Great, and I fully welcome but what really interests me, is that in all this one can find fully involved and engaged; not only British Chartist Commemorative Socities and Websites but also a Chartist Cymru Network, HERIAN, Llafur, Bevan Foundation, Labour Party and Colleges and Schools also a veriaty of cultural bodies. Great! I have no problem with that either, but when did you ever see similar ''Nationalist/Cultural Nationalist'' bodies of similar nature being so involved, engaged and united in action. Never! not in 1n 1982, re Cofia 1282 nor in Glyndwr 1400 - 2004, nor Glyndwr 1404 - 2004 Commemorations on such scale as that now behind the aforementioned Chartist Commemoration. Although Embassy Glyndwr is hoping that things may be much better when it comes to Glyndwr 660 regards anniversary of the Birth of Owain Glyndwr on 28 May 1354. But I am hoping we can get that similar unity and Solidarity re my BRENHINOL CYMRU initaive and propsal for BRENHINOL CYMRU 1000 in 2011.
.
So, see below and note that I have much I can repackage as projects for below, for others to carry on with hopefully to some good purpose, not least going out and grabbing all the grants available as others are doing. So go for it!

since the Owain Glyndwr war of Independance1400 – 1421
have come to accept slavishly these English Princes
of Wales. Largely because they are ignorant and
misinformed of their History, and know very little of the
history of the Native Princes & Princesses of Wales.
Thus we shall attempt with your patriotic help to put this
right in 2011 with a year long, and ‘all Wales’
commemoration and celebration of the history of our own
Native Royal Dynasties, from time of Cunedda to that of
Owain IV ‘Tywysog Cymru’ our last native Prince.

It may hopefully not only stop any establishmenth hopes of
such a third Investiture taking place, but perhaps begin to
undermine and do away with the whole concept and tradition
of English Princes of Wales. If Wales Is to have a
Prince, why not a native born Welsh Prince
or indeed Princess of Wales? Discuss & Debate!

If interested in working on this Brenhinol Cymru 1000 Initiative do get in touch and state so, and if you are prepared to attend a meeting to discuss project proposals further. Perhaps presenting your own ideas and being thence fully involved in the development and advance of this grand Initiative. A meeting may take place on 11 Rhagfyr 2009 in Central Cymru, if suffiecient Patriots are interested in above and of mind to attend and discuss the whole much further. Note, you may get in touch via S.Ifan at Embassy Glyndwr.
