You will have heard of being 'Anglo centric' but perhaps a case can be made out for there being such a thing as being too 'Gwynedd centric' in our accepted Patriotic view of Welsh History. As it seems that Southern patriots deem their own native royalty and medieval history, not as worthy as that of Gwynedd in particular. Why else would ''Hwntws'' annually rally at Cilmeri in remembrance of Llywelyn III but be so forgetful when in comes to their own medieval heroes as Llywelyn Bren and his revolt against Anglo - Norman rule in 1315 - 16?
.
.
Well it's time for such ''Hwntws'' and other Southerners, particularly those who believe that their own Southern History does not begin before the Industrial Revolution (see the work of Herian via web search) to wake up to fact that Cadw has on line a five year Heritage Tourism plan 2009 - 2014 with millions of E.U. money to hand out for medieval matters. But their plan is based on four Initiatives; two representative of pura Walliae regards the Princes of Gwynedd and the Princes of Dehuebarth, then another two are representative of marcher Walliae (the South and North East with central Wales) and it's Anglo - Marcher Norman and later English Lords as being of more importance than native leaders pre and post 1081 to 1282.
.
I am not surprised that Native pre and post -conquest Glywysing (Morgannwg & Gwent) and the North East are given short shrift but Powys? rather odd that this most important Gwledydd is thrown aside and seems to count for little. However, my concern at moment is neither Powys or the North East as I know of Patriots in these regions whom will be concerned and do something of useful value, re Medieval Initiatives and projects in their regions. However, I am not so sure about the South or why else is there a statue of Tommy Cooper in Caerffili and not one of Llywelyn Bren? So at moment I am only concerned with fighting out of a Southern Corner, and then simply to motivate and prompt, do not expect me to do very much.
.
At moment I have far too much on my plate to do much in a pro-active way regards a MORGANNWG MEDIEVAL INITIATIVE, other than appeal that others of the South get on with it! I will from time to time publish information in this post that may be useful but in the first instance I suggest someone calls a meeting in Caerffili to hold preliminary discussion regards establishing of a M.M.I. why not this Saturday the 24th October as an alternative to Cadw's birthday bash in the Castle, or when ever? but please do so. Not least so you may be first in the Que to grab some grants to put to good use, now do not take too long thinking about this ok! Personally, I think it really is time that a Cymdeithas Llywelyn Bren was set up, never mind about that ''Gog'' Llywelyn III and Cilmeri, lets get a bit 'Southern centric' in showing some interest in the Medieval of Morgannwg (and Gwent) for a change, yes!.

Keep me informed of any developments and I will post up your news on this blog, plus do take a good look at what's going on over at Cadw and their Plans for supposedly a more patriotic view and presentation of Medieval Wales from the native point of view. Their plans are looking pretty good, and I will find it very hard to criticise they, if patriots in particular do not get off their backsides and do something. Not least as in this blog and my I'R GAD Welsh Battlefield Campaign blog and Cofiwn Archive blog there is much useful stuff out of which Initiatives and projects might arise.
